The Delhi Police detained a CPI delegation visiting Delhi Jahangirpuri. The CPI leaders demanded that the police set up barricades. The leaders said they would return only after seeing the victims of demolition operations in the area.
Party general secretary D Raja said he would return only after seeing the site of the demolition. A delegation of Rajya Sabha members Binoy Vishwam and Annie Raja arrived at the spot. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad team reached Jahangirpuri in the morning but was stopped by the police and sent back.
A Muslim League delegation from Kerala had visited Jahangirpuri this morning. The league said the victims of the evacuation would be rehabilitated. After the visit, Idi Mohammad Basheer MP said that all possible legal action would be taken against the actions of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Kodikunnil Suresh MP also responded after visiting the place that the issue would be strongly presented before the Central Government. Heavy police security is still in place in Jahangirpuri. Surveillance was strengthened with CCTV cameras. More opposition delegations are arriving in the area.
