CPI (M) faces election in Thiruvambadi
Kozhikode: The marriage between DYFI block committee member Shej and Joyce in Kodancherry was described as love jihad by CPI (M) Kozhikode district secretariat member George M. MSF leader Fatima Tahliya said Thomas’ statement was not a mere figment of the imagination.
George M. was the one who exposed the hidden Sangh Parivar ideas. Tahliya said people had come to identify Thomas as a gangster. Their response was via a Facebook post.
The CPI (M) has been contesting the Thiruvambadi constituency for a number of years with a well-planned communal campaign and precise community segregation. He told the CPI (M) leaders that Ameer, Hasan and Kunhalikutty were leading the UDF. Tahliya added that Thomas’ crusade could not be avoided by simply saying that the tongue was a fine.
Meanwhile, George M. CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the party in Kerala would look into Thomas’ statement. “I do not approve of the Love Jihad campaign,” Yechury said.
The Constitution gives adults the right to marry. He said that love jihad was part of the Hindutva agenda.
‘The position of the party is clear. The Constitution of India gives all adult citizens the right to choose their own life partner. That election is a fundamental right guaranteed by the governing structure. No one has the right to say that it is love jihad if the partner one chooses belongs to another religion.
What is this Love Jihad? Are intercaste marriages and interfaith marriages banned in India? It is not acceptable to say that a person of one religion cannot marry a person of another religion, ‘Yechury said. Former MLA George M said his statement was a hoax. Thomas had also said.
