Karnataka Minister KS Ishwarappa resigned
Bangalore: Karnataka Minister KS Ishwarappa resigned. The resignation letter will be handed over to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomma on Friday.
Ishwarappa’s resignation comes after he was accused of committing suicide by contractor and BJP activist Santosh Patil. A case was registered against the minister in the incident.
The case was registered against KS Eshwarappa and his accomplices Basavaraj and Ramesh. An FIR has also been lodged against the minister in connection with the case.
Earlier, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomma had said that no immediate action would be taken against Ishwarappa. The CM had said that a decision would not be taken until the preliminary inquiry was completed.
Santosh’s death comes after allegations of corruption were leveled against Ishwarappa. Santosh, including the Prime Minister, had lodged a complaint against Ishwarappa.
Santosh Patil booked a room at a lodge in Udupi on Monday night. He had two friends with him. The group took two rooms and Santhosh was staying in one room and the others in another. Santosh Patil was found dead on Tuesday.
The initial conclusion was that the poison had entered and caused the death. On April 11, Santosh sent a message to his friends stating that he had decided to commit suicide and that Ishwarappa was responsible for his death.
