Thiruvananthapuram: An investigation has been launched against a policeman in the incident where a Congress worker was booted and trampled on during a protest against the Silverline stone laying in Thiruvananthapuram. The investigation is against CPO Shabir at Mangalore station. The Rural Special Branch DySP is in charge of the investigation.
The victim said the policeman kicked him in the boot, punched him in the arm, stabbed him in the neck and leaned against the wall, and police attacked him without provocation. The incident took place this morning. The survey, which was halted following the CPM party congress, was resumed today.
There was a tussle between the protesters and the police who came to stop the stoning. Someone fell unconscious on the spot. Congress leaders have come out against the police action. The opposition leader demanded an end to the police crackdown and action against the trampling officers.
