Thiruvananthapuram | A special police team is being formed to investigate poxo cases in the state. DYSPs in all districts will lead the investigation team. The team will also include 44 station house officers.
Special training will also be given to team members to better investigate pox cases. According to the report of the Crime Branch ADGP, the government is appointing a special team.
Cases are handled by station house officers on the CI rank list. Dissatisfied with the delay in filing charges and trials in the Poxo cases, the Supreme Court had directed the formation of a special inquiry team.
Pox cases are also being investigated by station house officers in charge of law and order. The charge sheet cannot be filed within 90 days as the case has to be investigated along with this task. It also affects the timing of trials. The special team is formed because there are no posts to form the new team.
