The accused in the murder case of Palakkad SDPI activist Zubair has been remanded. Ramesh, Arumughan and Saravanan were remanded for 14 days. They will be shifted to Chittoor sub jail. According to the remand report, Zubair’s murder was in retaliation for the killing of Palakkad RSS activist Sanjith.
Defendant Ramesh’s animosity was the reason for the murder. Ramesh is Sanjit’s friend. ADGP Vijay Sakhar said that he was the one who coordinated the killer gang. Sanjit’s close friend Ramesh is the mastermind behind Zubair’s murder. The defendants had twice tried to kill Zubair earlier. On April 1 and 8, the defendants tried to kill Zubair but failed. He was then attacked again on Vishu day and killed.
Police said all the three accused were RSS-BJP activists. Police found the swords used to kill Zubair yesterday. Four swords were found buried in the mud at Mannukkad Korayar. The swords were found during a search of the area where the accused were staying.
Meanwhile, police have identified four culprits in the murder of Palakkad RSS leader Srinivasan. Defendants were identified based on CCTV footage and mobile tests. Indications are that these were exactly the direct participants. Abdul Rahman, Feroz, a native of Pattambi, and Ummer and Abdul Qadir, a native of Pattambi, were identified as the culprits.
One of the bikes used by the accused was registered in Tamil Nadu. After the murder, they entered the Pattambi area. The ADGP said the arrest of the accused would take place soon.
Meanwhile, the ban in Palakkad district will end today. A meeting will be convened today under the chairmanship of the district collector to decide whether the ban will continue. Vijay Sakhar said the police had decided to continue the ban and would ask the government to do so.
